"Output shaft is slightly different. Very expensive to completely convert a non vette trans to a vette trans"
I have a regular sedan T700 in mine.Changed the ext housing and nothing else to make it fit.
The vette output shaft is slightly shorter but there is enough clearance on the yoke because the diff is fixed and doesn't move.
If you are doing a full rebuild with aftermarket parts and a shift kit there is no need to start with a Vette trans unless you have one.
Non Vette cores are cheaper than Vette ones.
Recommend you fit the TorqueDrive hardened input shaft and drum, "The Beast" extreme duty reinforced reaction shell in place of the weak stock ones.
Rodj, are you positive that the extra length is not an issue? The last few I have done looked very close to bottoming out and hitting the cup
in the rear of the yoke. I am asking because I will stop cutting the shaft down to the correct lenght if you are sure. It takes me a solid hr to cut down, and if not nescessary I will stop doing it. I have always been afraid to try it. Most trans guys do not share their secrets. Any comment is appreciated.
When I did mine , without any output shaft or driveshaft mods (although there is a visible difference in shaft outside the seal) when driveshaft placed in the diff yoke there was ,from memory approx 3/8 available movement foward until gearbox yoke bottomed out.
I would like more than this if a regular diff but as it is fixed I doubt it would move forward that much.
Have to get under car this week and check uni's before next strip attack. Will get absolute measurement for you.
email me to remind me. vetteoz@optusnet.com.au
got the car back and it wasnt shifting all the time, i just got it back for the second time and now she wont shift to OD at full throttle, so im stuck at 128 MPH at 5300RPM's. Did they forget the 4th gear upshift sleeve or use the wrong upshift valve?
