Default EBC Greenstuff brakes

As per a lot of people's suggestions, I will be installing EBC Greenstuff pads on the front of my 89. I noticed something on the box about the shims but didnt quite get the point. Are the EBC brakes installed with or without the old shims?

Thanks again!

Whats the point of shims anyways? The pads always center themselves. They also will wear out before they're too thin to reach the rotor.

I believe shims are there for anti rattle or anti squeel. I don't mind leaving them out though.

I don't think mine came with any shims.

And you should be very happy with those pads, I know I was. It was a huge improvement over stock or parts store pads.

I don't recall shims with mine either. I however don't think you'll be happy with the pads after you see how much dust they leave behind.

They do dust more than as advertized and they wear out fast, but they are definitely a huge improvement in stopping the car....at least they were for my 85.

As long as they don't dust as much as the Hawk HPS, which was my other choice for a pad.
For those of you have had them wear out fast, did you still replace them with the same pad?
