Default Anti-Seize on O2 Sensor?

Will anti-seize contaminate an O2 sensor? I usually use regular high temp anti-seize on the threads. TIA

I have never had a problem as long as you use it sparingly. It don't take much to get the job done. Just a light coating on the threads only is adequate. I also suggest using a marine grade nickel compound that is rated at 2200 deg F. The standard silver stuff from NAPA is only good to 1500 or thereabouts.

Just be sure not to get the anti-seize on the sensor part down at the bottom. I fried two O2 sensors this way.

I've been using a copper antiseize for the threads to my sensors. I believe that is what is made for.

I believe new ones come with a compound already installed on the threads.

On a related topic, the 02 sensors are generally easier to remove warm, not cold.

Tjwong - This stuff is super-duper strength! I found this on the net...note "nuclear fittings"!

NICKEL SPECIAL, NUCLEAR GRADE

""The standard in the nuclear industry, Never-Seez® Nickel Special, Nuclear Grade is specially tested and certified pure for use in nuclear power plants. Each production lot of Never-Seez ® Nuclear Grade is tested for contaminants of sulfur, halogens and low-melt metals and each container is labeled with the lot number that certifies purity. Recommended for nuclear fittings, valves and steam mani-folds. Provides maximum protection from high heat up to 2400ºF and aggressive chemicals. Meets General Electric D50YP12, Westinghouse and Bectel's nuclear specifications. Tested to MIL-A-907.""
