ok I have a 1996 auto lt1.
I just had them redo the exhaust and they mooed the shift linkage on the drivers side. and now its loose and has play in the steel line. id say about an inch play.
so basically when im in park and nutreal its in reverse( WTF!!!!) and OD is nutral etc etc.
how do I tighten it?
or what should I do?
please no sarcastic commets just need to get this fixed fast.
also i did not pay for it and i left it ar there shop and told them not to touch it until they heard from me
On my '88 the link between the cable and the shift rod at the A4 has a slot so that you can loosen the bolt and move the cable end fore/aft to align the shifter positions with the tranny internals.
If I reach under the car around the front of the driver's door I can feel this attachement point and reach the nut without jacking the car.
If the cable sheath head is loose at its bracket attachemnt point that is another issue.

All you need is a 15mm wrench. Loosen the nut and make slight adjustments. Easy
