I bought my 91 Vette one year ago this month. It has always been squirrelly when changing lanes and didn't handle as well as I thought it should in curves. I'd put off alignment until I replaced the tires, waiting on good tread on all 4 corners. Tonight for whatever reason I looked at the rear tires from the top of the wheel well on each side. The left rear tire appears to extend about 3/4 inch further from the wheel well than the right. The person I purchased it from said it had only been slightly damaged on the right side.... Slight body damage only. I need some input from a few suspension experts. What can the problem and fix be?
OR....did he have a tube of K-Y in his pocket?
I almost forgot. She's an L98 running ZR-1 wheels. 17" 315/35's rear and 275/40's front. After reading a few other threads it seems that this might be normal when running the ZR1 wheels on the L98. Any feedback from ZR1 Experts is definitely welcome.
You're only guessing at this point; take it to an alignment shop to find out what's up. Isn't it worth $90 or so to get it aligned to correct the bad handling.
If the frame has been bent it can likely be straightened by a good shop.
The suspension pieces are all aluminum. In a minor crash the pieces almost always bend well before the frame does. Leave this to a pro as others have suggested. If frame is straight, and I bet it will be, simply remove the bent pieces and swap them out .
