Well, if they aren't used, then someone rolled the engine over a few times without any assembly lube on the bearings. Sure looks like scoring on them to me.

well the engine was run, it has like at the most 5 hours on it, mostly idling. i pulled the piston out to double check ring gap cause i didn't build the engine and couldn't get in touch with the engine builder not like he would remember, but anyways. i have heard that racers do crap like that all the time, take engines apart and only replace the parts that broke?

You are 100% right about that.
If I were you I would replace the rod bearings.
Forget about the Mains you have a one piece seal and that is a bitch to replace without taking the engine out of the car.

engine is on a stand. but a set of "h" series bearings aren't exactly cheap, plus i don't want to go through the trouble of measuring all the bastards too.

Well I guess you kinda of over looked the cost of the gaskest set.
Not cheap no matter where you get them.
I would decide if you are going to keep the car of not.
If I were you and just wanted to get rid of it then put it back together.
You will need about $3000.00 to rebuild it.
Or the engine builders will take your engine and reman it for you on an exchange.
I have lots of web sites you can go to and check them out if you want.
Let me know.

I could not see the pics. If the bearing says with the exact cap it came off, It can go back safely. Avoild removing the bearing from the rod or cap if you may posibly reuse it. The reason is crush. Crush is all that really holds a bearing in. All the rods are machined an azz hair different from each other. For the same reason you never want to mix up caps, you do not want to mix up bearing halves. Putting the bearing in and out of the cap removes minor metal and weakes the crush. I know this was not the correct answer for your question, but I felt it was good info to share.

dude. what the hell are you talking about. you haven't really been close on anything you have said. no offense. but you thought that my rod was a main bearing. i don't really know how you would mix that up. my engine is no where near trashed. $3000 is quite a bit of a high estimate wouldn't you think. its almost as if you just are typing to just to write something. i am not claimning to be a pro engine builder, hence the whole reason i asked for a second opinion, but if you really don't know the right answer don't waste my time or have me waste my money please. i don't really have that much of either in the first place.
