I did a search, cause I know it's been asked before, but didn't find the answer. Which kit do you like the best? B&M, Transgo, or TCI. I don't want rock hard shifts, just some inprovement over stock.
Thanks in advance.

Any of these should be good. I'd see which one offers the most options for setting up the shift firmness that you desire. You might want to consult with their tech departments with your goal in mind.

I am very satisifed with the TransGo in my A4 and can testify that their tech support is aces.
My A4 rebuilder and TransGo installer had trouble with the A4 setup so I called the TransGo tech line, got prompt response and a complete and thorough explanation of the setup.
What is the difference between the transgo and the b&m besides around $100. I am going to do a shift kit at the same time I do a torque converter so I am very interested in this thread.

Well, my tranny builder told me that the transgo was the most involved kit that he had ever seen. IMO it's a higher quality kit, you get what you pay for.
I'm going with the b&m shift improver kit. I installed on in a Camaro 700r4 and it worked great---after I installed the corvette servo. But since corvettes should already have corvette servos it should work good. When I installed it I used the street/strip configuration. The one-two shift was so hard I hated to drive in traffic. I reinstalled the 1-2 accumulator spring and then it was perfect, smooth at low throttle but really firm/break-em loose at full throttle. Drove it over 100k with no tranny problems.
Some say it helps the tranny live longer, some say it hurts it and causes failures. I have had outstanding luck with my 700r4's built with the b&m shift kit. Until my words bite me in the azz, I will continue to put a kit in every trans I do. Unless the owner flat out does not want it.

Pete, what part of PA are you in? I am in NE Ohio and am looking for a good mechanic.
Hey Pete, I hope I am not getting off track here but have you ever heard of superior shift kits? My buddy who rebuilt mine used it and swears by them. I ordered the rebuild kit with the red alto clutch packs and kelvar bands. Also ordered a transgo kit. He didnt want to use a transgo kit, said he prefered the superior kit. I said ok, (kinda like you cant tell the doctor hot to treat you ) but anyways it seems fine with it. Not to harsh at light to mid throttle, but takes the time out between shifts on full throttle. Id never heard of them until he rebuilt mine, just kinda wondering if you or anyone else had an opinion on them.

I have heard good things about superior . They have a reputation for quality stuff. I have not used any of their parts first hand. I will if given the chance. Most of the transmissions I have done are for family and close friends(drag racing buddies). We all squeak when we walk, so the cheap b&m kit is all we have used. Hopefully others will post some opinions.
If anyone is interested, I have a TransGo shift kit for the 700R4, new in the box with video, I will let go for $75 plus shipping. I converted the car from 700R4 to ZF6 before getting to install the kit.
hey pete do you work on corvettes im located in the allentown and looking for a good mechanic. to do trans work and lower my car with the mid america lowering kit.
