I have a 94 LT1 I am building, and I am upgrading to the 95 timing cover, cloyes double roller gears and chain.
I got the new 95 opti today, and my service manual does not show any seal or o-ring behind the opti, where it sets into the timing cover, as my GM service manual shows the 94 setup (I don't know if the 95 is different).
Is there ant type of seal I need to install?
Also, there are areas machined into the shaft of the opti to go around the 3 camshaft bolts, and there are 3 slots that the long pin from the camshaft can go into. Am I correct that I put that pin into the slot that is marked different than the other 2 slots?
I am grateful for any help you provide.
I can not help you with the second part of your question, but when I replaced the opti-spark last year on my 95, there was no gasket between the two, I too thought that was strange, but have had no problems as of yet.
Good Luck

To up grade you need the 95 opti with the large base not the small one.
You also need to change the timing cover to the large hole.
They make 2 diff sizes.
The seal is in the new cover.
The pin goes into the water pump gear and you have gear to drive the pump.
The opti just has apin with splines with one slott in it,that has to be lined up.

Thanks for the reply.
I have the 95 cover, and I bought the 95 Opti. Also have installed the hotcam withthe long dowel pin, justnot sure which slot the pin goes into.
