Default Dreaded #8 header bolt..tricks??

I see that the aft bolt on #8 has backed out which looks to be the source of what sounds like an exhaust leak. my 7/16 open wrench is not long enough. Before I go out and buy a really long one tomorrow, what do you all use?

Try using simple lock washers. They work wonders really.

I have the TPIS headers. I use a 1/4" drive with a socket. I have to use a box wrench one size larger to get it started, and then the socket wrench finishs the job. It looks like this:

I used a 3/8" drive with a crow's foot on a ratchet then a 3/8" torque wrench. It takes a lot of patience but works. Bought a set at Sears.

Thanks everyone. I bought a really long open end that should let me get it from above or below. Problem is, the head of the bolt is too close to the pipe to get a socket around it Add to that my gorilla size hands=FRUSTRATION.

I know when I put my Hookers on I took a old socket and ground it down on a grinder. Also took a wrench heated it up with a torch and bent it so I could get a good bite on the bolt. It's still a pain to get to. I was turning that wrench about a 8th of a turn lotta times to get it snugged up. GOOD LUCK WITH IT

I ended up buying ARP bolts that have a 8mm head on them. It made it easier to access with the smaller head.

same here, but I also use the socket set that has a universal as part of the socket itself. I tighten with a 1/4" drive

I used a "spring" attachment that I bought from Sears. Basically it's an extension that is made out of a spring. It allows you to get in there from either top or bottom, but bottom was easiest for me.

Of course, I ended up ruining it because I tried to tighten the bolt too much with it but it was the only way I could get that thing started!
