Chris, try this: www.baldturbofreak.com there are some pics there.

What makes the Ultima "hard to turbo". It couldn't be any worse than the C4's or 3rd gen Camaros, just different. Besides, I'm convinced that BTF would turbo charge a matchbox car if he could get in it. lol

It looks to me that a minimum order of $41,408 is required even if you do it in stages. You still don't have an engine, gearbox, tires, gauges, blah blah. I'm not dissing the car, but it's gonna take some cash. I doubt anyone is going to give a guy a loan for this thing. hehe

"Ultima"tely what you should do is find one used somewhere.. this will take patience. I've learned enough by now to know that you NEVER come out good piecing a car together. Just find some rich guy who bought one as a toy and is now tired of it..

yea that's the minimum order for free shipping. thats why a bunch of us buy them together. Start with what we can afford and do a group buy say every 3 mos. for parts, and split the shipping.

Thanks for the link!

people have tried to turbo them dont get me wrong. the big problems people find with them is the heat! on a front engine car this is LESS of a prob coz at least there is some air flow over the engine. with mid or rear engined car its alot harder. take a look at the Veron. it took about a year to be built and the following three for VWA to find a way to keep the thing from melting!

apart from that, and trying to fit some silencers in there, its a piece of cake. oh apart from the intercooling .

hehe, it sounds as though most of you guys would love to have a go a turboing one! but i hear they can be very scarry without!!!!

thanks Chris.

Are you kidding me? This won't scare Rick one little bit, he'll just put the turbo and intercooler in the front.

YOU SAID IT TONY! lol It would seem that there are aot of vents in that body chris, besides our beloved SBC is nwhere near in size to the W16. Also brother there is alot less heat in 1 large effiecnt turbine then 4 small turbo's. Finally the turbo would hang right where the tailpipes currently reside.
Bottom line? nothing a nice set of hand hammered aluminum heat shields and some coatings/trbine blanket won't take care of. We'll hit the thousand mark w/o the intercooler. and being the quirky, fat little guy that I am Id probably keep the dual fuel setup and have the driverside tank full o methanol.

where there is a will there is a way. If you want it bad enough, you'll find a way. Im still a student, and recently doubled my classload to include a electrical engineering degree as well (tired of electronix givin me SH$T!) But I know for damn sure what my next toy will be.
I'll just buy it under the companies name and write it off as adverstising (when I finish school and do customs full time) hopefully that will fly.
I just need to convince my girl that the Ultima is more important than buying a house.

Hey, BTF. found these pics on a build site. is this the sort of placement you where thinking of for the turbo? its working for this guys, but not sure if it would pass the sound regs over here! but it is a nice idea.

Thanks Chris.
