The radio in my friends 92 started maiking a squeeling noise when you turn it on. Only 1 speaker makres the noise, the other do no play at all. We have changed the radio and the antenna. Has anyone had this problem or has any suggestion.
Thanks
Ralph
The Bose radio has individual power amplifiers at each speaker.
The capacitors in the power amplifiers are notorious for going bad.
If you play it too long when the capacitors go bad, you can damage the power transistors too.
If you want to comfirm the problem, you can swap the power amplifiers at the speakers from side-to-side. If the problem goes to the other speaker, the problem is in the amplifier.
There are about seven capacitors in the power amps.
Since these capacitors are so cheap (I paid about $8 for all seven), I just replaced them all about six years ago and haven't had a problem since.
The other alternative is to buy a new/refurbished amplifier.
