Default Help! Engine is done, valve covers don't fit!

I originally was planning to use my stock L98 heads with my new LPE 219 camshaft and 1.6 RR and knew I would have to grind off the oil tabs to make the stock valve covers fit, but I ended up buying new Dart Pro1 heads and now the valve covers won't fit. The stock valve covers were the center bolt type and the new heads require the 4 corner bolt valve covers. I was trying to find tall valve covers to make sure the roller rockers would clear, but I can't find any tall valve covers for my engine. Anyone know which valve covers and where I can get them to fit?

I dont think tall valve covers will clear everything in an L98. At least in my '85 that was the case (my engine is all stock though)

If it's just a SBC setup, any perimeter bolt valve cover should fit right? Have you checked summitracing.com? And Autozone has them, as well as pretty much any online store.

I would check to see how much clearence you would have if you want tall valve covers, otherwise- I believe summit sells extra thick valve cover gaskets, which may give you some extra space...

You can also use an adapter that screws into the head and has provisions for you to use your centerbolt valvecovers.

Where can one find the adapters? I don't see anything like that at Summit.

On my pro 1s you could use either center bolt or perimeter. They had provisions for both!

Adapters? you have Dart heads. Buy dart tall valve covers(available at Summitt), as I did for my L98 w/ dart pro1 heads

Short valve covers may clear on the Dart heads. I have an older set (10 years old) and they have a machined valve cover rail that is raised about 3/16 over the stock rail. That extra clearance might get your valvetrain underneath the low covers while leaving room above.

I believe the only real problem spot with tall valve covers is with the wiper motor. I bought a set of tall cast aluminum valve covers from GM Performance Parts, and they fit perfectly.
Check Ebay item number 7992715364
Those are the same style valve covers I have. Notice the ends on top have a bevel to them. It allows these to go under the wiper motor with no problems.

His is a 1990... there might be fitment problems over by the ac bracket and perhaps at the alternator, too...

Hey thanks for all the replies guys, I ordered two sets of valve covers. I'm going to try the Dart Tall valve covers like AZC4 first, those look SWEET and were pretty cheap. If that doesn't work, I also ordered some Trick Flow fabricated aluminum covers so they could be ground and weld if there is an issue with fit. Hopefully one or the other will work out. Thanks for the help.

Aidoneus, the valve covers will need a slight modification where the driver's side one meets the wiper motor. It's an easy fix, will take you about 30 secs and your work will not be visible.

Morosa valve covers ,or MT valve covers fit tall ones .You just have a old style valve cover motor.
The wiper motor most likely will hit and maybe the alt may not clear.
Hood seems to be ok.

86 c4 here and I am running perimeter VC's on jerkyboys old Pro1s. I have the tall al dart VC's. I replaced the winshield wiper bushings with washers and now they fit!

Also note, these ones do not come drilled so you have to drill them yourself.
Pick up a 1 3/16 hole saw (for pcv grommets) and a 1 1/4 hole saw (for push in oil cap style), both in the "bi-metal" style, not the carbon ones. A drill press and then have at em. For baffles pick up moroso's baffled PCV grommets #68772

These are the vc's:
