i have a 90 vette... i was at the parts store picking up some parts for one of our ambulances and when i went outside to leave it started for about 1 sec and dies.. will not start back up... it has happened to me a few times before but it always started back up after waiting about 15 minutes... i took the ignition module out and had it tested... good.... changed coil... still no go... getting a orange spark ( i believe that means weak) and can smell raw fuel from exhaust... recent replacements on the car : cap, rotor, coil, ignition module tested, egr valve, set timing, adjusted valves.... and also when i turn on the key on my display it flashes a 5 (a strange symbol looks like a four with a curl at the end) 5 in the place of the range number... any help is appreciated!!!
Ignition modules can bench test good and still be bad. Orange spark is weak. Could be ; bad plugs, wires, ignition module, coil (you changed it), cap or rotor broken/excessivly worn.
got it back from the shop today... actually what it ended up being was the small orange wire coming off the battery had melted on the inside at the connector... and yes i checked the ECM and pulled no codes... still dont know what that wierd 595 or 545 flashing on my digital readout means

It should have been a digital letters for SYS. Generally points to a problem detected by the CCM. If it flashes 3 times every 15 seconds it means there is a current DTC present.
See my post in Tech/Perf re:Ignition Control Module wish mine was a simple as yours. I envy you.
