OK - I have the same issue as jjgkdg above. What solenoid are you talking about removing that gets rid of this issue?

Ones a switch I believe and the other's a solenoid.
I got rid of both.

first of all i dont ahve my EGR or AIr systems, i removed them.
I have a 1996 lt1 and no cats, resanator, mufflers.

it threw a code thats y i couldnt pass emmissions with lt1 edit i got the EGR and AIR codes editied out.. so all it would say was not ready. here in atlanta you can pass with 2 not readys. i had another and we couldnt figure what it was. so i just got a guy to "make it pass"

the only reason i took that stuff off was because the headers i had did not have provisions.

on the contrary! EGR, when invoked (ie, partial throttle, up but not inlcuding WOT nor idle), REDUCES combustion temps, and by introducing exhaust gases into the combustion chamber (partial throttle) it effectively reduces the volume; smaller effective displacement means less fire, and less heat and thus lower temperatures, thereby controlling NOx emissions.

removing EGR will risk higher combustion temps, and thus "pinging" which is NOT a good thing

you should simply have ordered the correct (ie, with smog fittings) headers to begin with

EGR is to reduce combustion chamber temps, which reduces NOx output that results from having chamber temperatures too high.

The solenoid he is refering to only turns on and off the vacuum to the egr valve. When the ECM has the correct conditions to turn on the EGR valve it closes the solenoid and in turn opens the EGR valve. After a short amount of time the ECM checks the high temp switch mounted on the exhaust tube that leads to the EGR valve - if the EGR valve is told to be on and the high temp switch is not closed - you get a code 32.
