Adapter for lighter socket / 12V accessory output
device's plug does not connect the terminals in the
cigarette lighter of my '89.
Any suggestions about a commercially available adapter
I'd be likely to find on short notice?
How about whether there is a fused/unfused circuit
that I can reach without any panel removal? On the
old cars, it would be simple to hook a spade terminal
to the fuse box - I don't want to pull anything apart
in this case.

such. I remember seeing some plugs come with plastic sleeves so
they could fit larger plugs.
Radio Shack? OF COURSE! Thanks ...
It's a datalogger.
Since I posted, I looked again and compared the problem plug with
the one on my portable compressor, known to work in the C4.
Barrel diameter is fine, no ring required. Thought the problem plug
might have a tip that is too long but it compresses into the housing.
Lighter works (ouch). Going to check the device in another car
I know it works in to make sure something hasn't happened since
last use.
If everything checks out, I'm off to Radio Shack or is it The Source?
There was a divorce in the spring and the Canadian entity previously
known as RS has been cut loose and forced to create a new brand
identity. The US parent of RS has moved in and opened a number of
stores. Would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall during
THOSE board meetings.

Here in the states, stores are either Radio Shack owned company stores, or, independant dealers. The indies are very rare in the USA... I have only run into a couple of them, and they are usually in small towns.
Lemme know what you learn!
