Default Lumbar bladder replacement

My lumbar bladders are punctured because of their age. I see that they can be purchased as a part. Can a person that easily finds himself mechanically challenged follow the directions and install them. Or should He just march them down to the nearest auto upholsterer and hand him his wallet? lynn

I'd say hand them the $$$. Actually if thats all that was worng with the seats I would live with it until it's time to recover/replace them.

It's easy ,just unzip the back of the seat and pull out the bladder.
Remove the metal staves and install the new ones and re hook up the lines.

I would, but the seats are in a '91 which has only 25K miles. They're leather and look like they've never been sat in. In addition to that, it is the only thing not working nor needs painting or repair in the whole car, as hard as it is to believe that. I even bought it sight unseen from 1500 miles away in Austin, Tx. (The Corvette Palace; if anyone wants to deal with one of the most reputable auto sales companies in the country) Speak with Sannon Rector 1 512 339-1961. I get 5.00 for everyone who mentions my name. For the above reason I'm going to repair them: so how much needle and thred do you think I'll need. lynn

I forgot to tell you the staves have a funny looking metal piece, take a picture or draw a picture of how the hook into the stave and that is about it.
Don't throw away the foam piece it holds in the blatter.

Several years ago I bought new bladders from Contemporary Corvette for the sport seats in my '88.

It was necessary to remove the seats, open up the stables about 1/2 way up the back of the seat back to access the top bladder staples.

Once I understood how the seat was put together it wasn't difficult to replace the bladders and hog ring the seat back to the bolsters again.
