Hello all,
The Clearcoat on the bar that covers the hinges for the hatchback on my 94 is starting to pop off in several small spots. I can easily flake it off with my fingernail.
I know I need to lightly sand the loose off, or at least I assume I do. Anyone have any suggestions on how to recoat it or how I should go about repairing it? The area affected is about 3". Who sells Clearcoat in a spray can?
To fix it you need to sand the entire part down and get rid of all of the paint on it. Prime it, base coat then clear. You can't "repair" clear coat and the stuff in a can doesn't hold up to weather.

Well, I`ve got a couple of spots on the rear of my `87 where the clearcoat is peeling off. In my case I got all the loose stuff off, & then sprayed some clearcoat in a rattlecan that I got from Pep Boys. It ain`t perfect, but its holding up ok for about a year now, as I don`t have the money for a full on paint job, & it woulden`t be right to piecemeal a paint job.
