i wanted to go wiht the 3192/3194 comp cams xtreme lobe series..some forum members run it on their, and are very satisfied
I'm one of those very satisfied users. My cam specs are: 224/230 605/622 112+2. Personally, I would wait for the Comp Cams Cam. But, the Crane may work just as well.
agreed. I have a comp cams custom grind 230/223 on 114. .604/580. Looks like it was ground on a hydraulic flat cam, compared to my lt4hot cam which looks like it was cut from billet steel. Kinda odd. In either case it looks like the cam you have spec'd will make a great blower/turbo cam. If your going NA, Id go somewhere in the 235+ @0.050 on a 110.
its relativley close to comp cam specs, overlap is about 52°
what do you think about?
regards
You might want to call Comp back and ask if they can grind it on their billet steel cores. Most of the times they automatically check for cores in their "ostempered" core line up. I know they have billet steel LT1 cores with cast gears, because I have one here. The one thing is that you may have to settle for a small base circle core to get it and that would necessitate using long body lifters from Crane for another $450

I have the 306 and think it is the perfect LT1/4 street cam for the bigger cube motors 383/396. It may not put down the best nembers but it will produce great power and the street maners are amazing. I get 16 MPG city and 27+ Hwy at ovet 400 RWHP/TQ not a bad combo.

Hi !!
i already have the lifters at home, p/n -11532-16, talked with crane techs and they agreet that i wont have problems with a small base circle..also just talked with comp and summit, and they will get the cam for me!!
Also, when getting your cam finalized, make sure you look inot to some good lifters, as Comp Cams R's apparently arent doing well as they are haveing problems with the retainer clips breaking.
I use the 230/236 XE cam with Beehives and Com p Cams R's and it revs and runs very good in my 396.
I emailed 19 different companies that build the LT1/4 motors about the Comp Cams R's, most had no problems, but I think they have no problems because they are meticulous with the adjustment of the lifters, which is crtical/finicky with the R's.
Only one company didnt like them at all. The companies I emailed were LPE/MTI/TPIS/Norris/More etc etc etc. Reputeable companies.
Well that's what I'm using, and Norris and MORE both like 'em. I bought my first set from Norris about 5 yrs ago from MORE, and when my engine builder was reinstalling them on the stroker motor he somehow managed to break one. I ended up taking the car to Norris and they put in a new set of them. No problems as of yet...
