I recently replaced the water pump in my 85 C4. I now have 2 problems that I don't think should be related to the replacement.
The first problem is that the engine won't rev up. It starts fine, but when I try to rev it up, it bogs down and won't rev above about 1500 RPMs. I replaced the Throttle Positioning Sensor but no change.
The second problem is that the battery runs down after about 3 days. I took the battery out and had it checked. It was a fairly new battery, but it had a dead cell. I replaced the battery with a new one. Same problem. It runs downs after a few days.
What did I screw up when I replaced the water pump?
Just an idea. It is one thing you took off for the water pump change. Slippage on the belt might explain the alternator not working well to recharge the battery. notice any increase in engine temp?
I haven't run it long enough to notice any temperatue problems. The battery runs down just sitting. It almost like there is a light on that is running it down. I can't find any lights on though.
