Is there a way to adjust this so it doesn't break when closing the door the first time on a new switch?? Thanks.
Are you sure you are talking about the door ajar switch (the little black one on the trailing edge of the door), and not the door light/security switch (the white one at the front of the door on the pilar)?
I know that the door light/security switch automatically adjusts the first time you close the door after installing it (there's no way to pre-adjust it). But I don't know about the door ajar switch, but I'd guess it's the same.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that you don't close the door in the normal manner, but slowly push the door closed using a steady pressure. This allows the pin to seat, hopefully.

I am talking about the switch on the back edge of door that controls the interior light/security stuff. When I first installed it the piston looked like it was extended too far and after a month of use it go pushed right thru the bracket and is laying inside the door now. Awaiting the replacement switch. Mid America sent out another without any fuss or problems, great company!!
