I'm in the later stages of reassembling my '89's L98 engine and have a black support bracket that I don't have pic's of. It is (from hole center to hole center) 10 1/2 inches long, looks generally like most of the others like it in the AIR system and has a slight bend at one end. There are no other bends in it...the ends/holes face the same way. My best guess is that it is from the right front of the engine near the A/C bracket.
Got any pic's from past threads you can point me to help locate this sucker?
The alternator of the 85 has one like that that runs from the outboard side of the alternator to the forward center bolt of the exhaust manifold. AC brace is very short, about 4 inches max. A pic would help.
It goes under the upper left A/C compressor bracket bolt and runs down to the exhaust manifold bolt.
There should be a large nut that goes over it onto the exhaust manifold; actually that particular bolt is more like a stud with threads sticking out beyond the nut that holds the header flange. I believe it's between #4 & #6, closer to #6.
