Default Hedman Headers

Does anyone have any experience with these headers for an L98? Thanks.

I've recently gotten some new information on Hedmans that even the idiots in their tech dept. couldn't provide me with before. Most of their headers are round port and really do not match up properly to the '88 and up D port heads. However, I did finally find a couple of part numbers that are oval port design and so should be fine. 68447 painted and 66447 coated. These cost a lot more than the cheaper ones but still have the crappy 1/4" flanges. The coated ones are over $500 at Summit and the painted ones are over $300. Might as well spend a little more and get some truly good headers. Anyway, you don't want any of their other headers on your D port heads. They'll block the top of the port, the most critical area for flow. And the whole reason they designed D ports to begin with will be defeated!

aweful expirence on my car....

the hooker 2151s are the best bang for the buck IMHO. but you prob want 1 5/8 not 1 3/4. and youll want some with smog provisions.

hooker are next cheapest to hedman but they arent junk!

let me help you install! should be a breeze as ive done it 3 times now.
let me know when ure ready i got all the tools... u just need some high flow cats. and ARP bolts. if you need new plugs now is the time to swap... while we have the headers out.

call hooker headers, and tell them what you have and and what you need. and they will give you a part #. I buy all my stuff from summit racing. They do an excelent job and the parts are always here on time.

get them un coated as they dont coat inside and out and its a cheap coating most of the time. and you can get it sent to procryo
and theyll do it for under $200 and you can just pick it up from there when they are done.

see you at petit!

Yeah me too! I don't get the part about not touching them with a 10' pole or the $300-$500 price tag but to each his own. I have the HTC coated Hedman's and for $325 shipped for my 85 I'm not complaining. They look great, don't have any issues with rust, and disipate heat extremely well! I have true dual exhaust and these look like new and I've had them on for a year. I've seen hooker headers and I've seen other headers installed and it all depends on the way you take care of things. You abuse them or beat the hell out of them when you install plugs or do whatever under the hood and they are going to go bad. Simple rule works every time......take care of it or lose it. I hear the talk of the 1/4" flange and I don't have any problems with my flanges or the headers in any way. I used the aluminum gaskets from (name slips me right now) and have tightened them once in the year that I've had them on. You'll see on the forum several are for Hedman and several are for Hooker. This debate will go on and on and on. Good luck in your choice!

Hedman headers are worthless. I tried some on an LT1 application a few years ago and it was a nightmare.

If you buy hedman headers you're buying a product that 50% of the people on this board will not endorse because they haven't been happy with it. Do you really want to spend your money on something you have a 50/50 chance of hating?

All that is true but there is no such thing as a 1 5/8th hooker header. They only make them (for our cars) in 1 3/4.

This is fine with me. Although others want them smaller.

I have had Hedmans on for about 2 years and no problems at all. I would guess that 40 - 50 percent of the Corvette club here has them on and I have heard of no problems. To each his own...I don't think there is much of a perormance difference between the two for the extra $$$.
