Default clutch fluid leaking badly

I filled it at lunch, and the reservoir was almost empty when I got home from work.

It's a 91 Corvette, ZF6. I pulled the month old slave cylinder down a few minutes ago and it's bone dry. I contorted myself under the dash and the rubber boot around the master piston is bone dry, is all stuff underneath it.

I've got brake fluid all over the master cylinder area because I spilled so much pouring it in the parking lot. I've cleaned it off before, and the master appeared to stay bone dry.

So... what the hell is leaking??? Is it possible that the stainless line between the master and slave is leaking?

I'm getting sick of changing parts on this POS. I'm on my 2nd master and my 2nd slave this summer.

Next question... assuming I need a new master, what brand do I get? The one on there now is whatever was on the car when I bought it, because I swapped the lifetime Napa unit off the first time I had problems.

On the ZR-1 the clutch hose is above one of the heat shields. There is some flimsy clamp that holds it in place, a few years ago the heose came loose and rested on the heat shield. Didn't take long before the hose had a hole in it, the heat shield cut through the hose's outer metal protection. Might want to check your hose for leaks while you are under there.

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to pull the hose down tonight and take a look, although if the leak is in the flexible portion, it may not be obvious. I might just replace it anyway.

When the master is leaking it will go down the rod into the cabin and drip onto some foam that is on the underside of the dash. I had a badly leaking master cylinder this summer and I swore it had to be the hose or a bad slave because I coulldn't find the leak inside the car. There is enough foam in there to soak up a pint of fluid. When my master really got bad I could see the reservoir emptying within 45 minutes with the car sitting.

Can you smell fluid while driving? I could.
