I have noticed that my brake pedal goes pretty far down to the floor. I have also noticed that there is a sound of air escaping when I depress the pedal. There does seem to be a slight spongyness to the pedal also. Any guess to what my problem might be? Am I right in thinking the power assist? Any help would be appreciated.
Make sure you have good brake fluid, not black, in there. Check all the lines at the master cyclinder for leaks, etc. Sounds like it might be the power asst.
There is a vacuum line that runs to a plunger type fitting on your brake pedal, has to do with cruise control, that is leaking and that is the hiss you are hearing.
