I just put some used Crane Gold Race Roller Rockers on and I'm wondering if anyone else who is using these are getting oil to the trunion.
Over the weekend I adjusted my rockers with the car running and noticed I wasn't getting any oil to the trunion. There looks like there is a hole that runs through the rocker to the cup that top of the pushrod seats into, but I get no oil. I reved up the motor and nothing.
I called Crane's tech support and the guy said I should be getting oil to the trunion through that hole. He suggested the holes were clogged. I find that hard to believe. Anyway any help will be appreciated. TIA
I was getting PLENTY of oil up there when I was running the Crane Gold rockers on my 86. A 6 inch tall piece of cardboard would barely contain the streams of oil when adjusting with the engine running.
I would pull one back out to make sure that nothing is clogged, although I find that hard to believe. Since you bought them used I guess anything is possible.
I would pull them again, but I find it hard to believe that 16 rocker arms are clogged.
Something isn't right, the pressurized oil come via the lifters through the push rods and out the rocker arm to get to the trunion. What is your available oil pressure?
Is this a stock engine? I know on some of our race engines we run restrictors in the block so we don't get much if any oil up top but that is just for that application. Check your pushrods while your in there, I would think that they would clog before the rocker.
I did inspect the push rods when I had them out and none were clogged. Rolled them on glass to make sure they were still true. I guess I'll be pulling the valve covers again. I just hate pulling the passanger side because of the EGR pipe.
