If you swap them, you will get a DTC 43 if I remember right, and the PCM will retard the timing as a safety measure so that means the car will lose a lot pf performance.
So, guys with OBD1 have no reason to buy the LT4 knock sensor because it will not work? Correct?
Is there such a sensor that will work for the guys (1994 obd1) who upgraded with the LT4 hot cam kit?

Keep in mind there are two parts here the knock sensor (Not interchangeable between OBDI and OBDII) and the knock module Interchangable just not for pre-94. since you have a 94 an LT4 KM will work but unless you have false knock it is a waist of $$$. Just because you install Roller rockers does it does not equale false knock.

Ok, possible causes of knock on my car:

Removed AIR
Removed EGR
Due to removal of above I need lower temp spark plugs

It's clear that the timing is off, but LT1 timing can't be adjusted except via ECM. I had a chip burned by Alvin and I'm pretty sure I had those two systems removed, but I need to confirm that I marked the right boxes.

What about the hose routing? I plugged holes to the intake where hoses came off of the air pump, and the holes in the back of the intake where the EGR valve went. Is rerouting some of the hoses required? I searched for info on this and most of it was for L98 cars.

Will all of the compensation for removal of these systems be done by the computer?

This is a track only car, please no flames about polluting the environment.

Thank you.

Scary,

Are you sure you don't have like a header or something knocking something underneath?

Have you tried like some octane booster to see if the knock count drops, or are you perhaps running too much advance?

Just some thoughts...

I don't understand what this would do, several have mentioned it. I assume you're asking if the header vibrating against something is causing false knock. Yes, this is possible, I installed new headers. But I have real knock, it's quite obvious. So if the header is causing false knock and causing the ECM to adjust timing, why wouldn't that help, not hurt?

I also installed 1.6 RR, another source of false knock for LT1's. How would these be causing real knock?

And if they somehow are, how does one fix it?

I hijacked someone else's thread here, I'm moving this to my own:
