Read the codes this morning, and came up with Code 12 and Code 43. I know the 12 Code is normal, but what the heck is Code 43???? I'm getting ready to take it to the shop. What am I looking at????? 1991 L98 TIA!
Changed Knock Sensor, and cleared the codes. Check Engine light staying off, so far.....
Does the knock sensor have any affect on how the car runs, especially when cold? Is it a heat activated sensor? When the light was on, the car was VERY sluggish, until it was under WOT, but as soon as the car got to operating temp, the light would go off, and the car would run normally.

If the knock sensor is picking up constant noise (which means it could be faulty), I think it woul set a code 43, because it would drop the voltage on the 485CKT line to below 4 for an extended period.
Once code 43 is tripped, you're system goes into limp-home mode... I think that means it takes off all the spark advance.
