Default Overheating question on LTx engine

My head gaskets are leaking and since I am getting the heads checked out, do I need to replace the head bolts with new ones? I don't know if the bolts get damaged from the overheating.

It is always recommended that you replace the head blots. Torquing them causes them to stretch and they should never be reused.

Factory 96 head bolts are torque to yeild bolts. They are supose to be replaced each use. Aftermarket ones like ARP can be used numerous times.

I know the LSx engine head bolts are a one time use but never heard that LTx ones are.

There are ARP bolts so I guess the overheating thing does not affect them.

They are single use bolts. Buy a new head bolt kit form your dealer or Ebay.
