Help a noob out please - just about to get started
Well, I just picked up a laptop that I intend to dedicate solely for the purposes of tuning and datalogging.
It's a Toshiba CF-25 Toughbook. Nothing special really - 150MHz Pentium processor, 80Mb ram, 2Gb hard drive, floppy drive, serial port, etc... the usual stuff that's on an older laptop. I bought it primarily because it's rugged (the outer case is made of magnesium), fairly portable (it has a built-in handle), and it was cheap (got it for just over $50 on eBay). There's no operating system on it, but that's no biggie - I'll install Windows 98SE when it gets here.
So now my question is simple: what's the next item(s) that I need in order to begin my journey into scanning and tuning my '89?
I'm looking for direction on everything, from what software to use to which ALDL cable to buy, to which PROM programmer to use and what PROM chips to get...
Lets start from the beginning and work our way through...
Good Luck!
