Do you mean the GMPP LT1 to LT4 conversion kit including intake and heads?

Assuming you really want the performance...it costs.

I have to agree, you can get the whole LT4 head / intake setup but for the cost of that kit you can get a set of stock LT1 heads ported to out
perform the LT4 set. For the maximum performance you would get the LT4 heads ported but the benefit of ported LT4 heads over ported LT1 heads with something as mild as the hot cam is hardly worth the extra
money spent.

The hot cam is a great choice, you'll really enjoy it if the car is going to be a driver. I would just save the money on the heads and intake and spend it on something better.

Edit, to finish answering your question I did my tuning myself. I would look to PCMforless if you don't have the equipment requried to tune.

The only place I can find online that references the kit is at Scoggin Dickey. For a mere 3 grand you can have the kit with the Hotcam and CNC ported LT4 heads.

SDPC Kit w CNC heads

You would not get the performance you expect without LT headers, an upgraded exhaust and some tuning. Add $1000-$1500 at least. And you would certainly need a tune with a larger throttle body.

If you wrenched yourself you will be out 5 grand and still have a stock bottom end LT1 block. Which does work for me, but I'm not a pro racer beating on my engine that hard.

There is a hotcam kit that has only the cam, springs, retainers, and roller rockers. It can be had for as little as $515 if you go to the right person.

That kit will produce 320rwhp in an automatic pretty easly.. run mid high 12's with supporting mods and you'll never even have to take the heads off.

Oh, well if you already have the LT4 heads and intake that's a moot point isn't it?

Go for the hot cam kit and let it fly. Alvin can do wonders for your tune.

I'd recommend a good dyno-tune when finished. Dollar for dollar it was the best money I've spent on this car for horsepower. After all of the current engine mods were done, I spent 3 1/2 hours on a dyno with a good tuner. $350 and 8 or 9 dyno pulls later, I drove out with 37 more HP, similar torque gains and stock mpg figures every since in normal driving. Check in your regional section of the forum for who the good tuners are in your area.
