Yeah I will take it. Sure you don't want some $$ for it??? Let me know what the shipping is and I will pay for it for sure!

I will send an email as soon as possible to your address above. Thanks! It is a manual transmission driveshaft right? That is what I need with the D44 I have...even though I run an auto.

Beach.

Yeah 9s is almost going to be unreachable, although last year the car went 10.6/7s most of the summer weather, then as it got cooler it went 10.5 and 10.4s, then at Jersey that weekend it went 10.33, spinning. I think it will gain in the real cool weather, but 9s is going to be tough to break into. Maybe though. If I could shed some weight it probably would do it. I was eyeing up those lexan back windows and some other lightweight stuff....but as you know I like to do it the hard way! Might be the stupid way also - who knows.

If I can get my 60' times down in the 1.3s which I think I can with a little more tweaking I will have a good shot at it maybe. I am considering buying some of those new Hoosier Drag Radials. The shop that did Dad's rear anti-roll bar swears they are worth at least 3MPH and .1-.2 tenths. They watched some videos of my car and they said it would REALLY like them since it hooks good now. They are a pure slick, but with the characteristics of a street tire. Very hard sidewalls and greatly extremely stable at the top end. I have been reading on them and lots of guys are going to them. I could probably almost fit a 30" tire under my car with them, 29" for sure. But that might not be needed since I am already hooking pretty good and it will reduce the gearing more.

I am going to see what I can get this Friday with what I have and then maybe go to the drag radials...I really would like to have two sets of wheels - one with the regular slicks and one with the radials. Anyone have a set of weld wheels they want to unload cheap?

Since your car is essentially a straight line car and you probably won’t be tossing it around in the twisties, why don’t you ditch the IRS and put in a solid axle? I give you a lot of credit for staying true to the original looks this long, but I have to think that as much fun as your car already is, it would be even more fun pulling consistant 1.3 sixty foot times with the front end 2 feet off the ground. Besides that you would probably pop off the 9 second times that you are apparently after, not to mention fewer rear failures.

I guess I like to do it the hardway. I have never been one to take the easy path in anything I do.

Other reasons consist of:

a. Big Money ~5k-8k to convert to a solid rear
b. Is I hate to chop this car apart. Its in great shape and I would be sick about doing it.
c. I want to do it the hard way...think I mentioned that. I know right now I could gut the inside out, put racing seat in it, lexan widow, lightweight hood and get in the 9s probably next time out with a few hundred pounds shaved off.

Lastly the main reason is I see completely 1/2 backed cars like a vette this past spring, that I SHOULD have bought for ~13k. So I figure why put 8k into this thing, when I could be going bottom 9s with this motor in a car like the one I mentioned above that was 2080lbs with the driver and is perfectly built for bracket racing. Put Dads motor in it and it would probably be pushing 8s N/A, with a 300shot be well into the 8s. But that is DEATH every time you go down the strip. I have little ones that rely on me being around, and even at these speed something could happen.

And the fact of the matter is I still get pumped going the speeds I am not EVERY run! Your cookin that is for sure. Its nerve racking and adrenaline is pumpin.

BUT yes! That sound like a awesome time with the front pulling that high and I would dial that 60' down to 1.2X since that is what hooked up pulls with his solid axle 415CI motor.

If you really wanna break landspeed records, why don't you just make it AWD and maybe cut 1.0 second 60' and be in the high 7s? It might take more money and ripping up the car to do so but you'd have a heck of a time keeping the urine in your bladder. I think you'd have the only AWD C4. Isn't AWD a little better to control than RWD??
