a replacement key for the locking lugs.
I'm not aware that GM was providing OEM locks in '88 but perhaps
they offered these as accessories (they do today) or maybe a
previous owner added them. In any event, chances are great
that the locks were made by McGard and if they were, you can
get a replacement key - I did.
It is easiest if you can provide the info from a McGard I.D. card
that accompanied the original locks. I called with this information
and had two keys in arrive one week later. If it isn't in the vehicle
somewhere, check for a card or hand-written number in any
paperwork you received from the previous owner.
You are not stuck if you don't have the I.D. According to McGard's

studs BEFORE you or someone else starts pounding. Keep in mind
that there is a wheel bearing back behind there, too.

As a note, I ordered a new set of security nuts with key from GM, and after about two tire rotations, replaced them with standards. One has to be somewhat careful with torque wrenches, or any wrench when removing the security fasteners. Not worth it in my view.
Would use the beat and seat method as a last resort.
