I have a 1990 project Vette that is in need of new seats. The stock ones are shot. I guess I could go with new leather or simulated leather seats on new foam($600 to $800) or put some aftermarket seats in. Does anyone know of any nice aftermarket seats that fit? I have seen some posts on Sparco Forza seats but they are fixed seat back. Would a reclinig seat help any in this car?
Probably won't find any reclining seats that fit, at least not without some modification. I think a few people have gotten a reclining Forza or Sparco to fit, but the new seating position is several inches higher than stock, which for most defeats the purpose of going to a racing seat.
You're probably going to have to stick with a fixed back racing model, or just find some more stockers.
I did the Corbeau A4's too. Here's the install clicky
The key problem is the width of the rear/bottom of the seat (19.5" IIRC). If you're willing to remove the stock seat belt mechanism (for a 4/5 point harness) you might gain an inch or two. If you opt for the A4 get the shaved seat bottoms.
I have the Corbeau Forza's in mine, which are fixed back...they sit up a tad higher than stock "sport" seats, but they're CLOSE to the same as a stock "base" seat. I love em'!
There's approx 19.5 - 20" max width between the frame rail and the tranny tunnel. There are many fixed racing seats that will fit, but I agree the Corbeau is probably the only reclining one that squeezes in there.
I like the corbeau's alot. They keep you in the seat. I like the side support to stop the sliding side to side. And it feels more like a race car. My stock seats when I bought my car were in very bad shape. Foam was need in the drives side....
I love my A4's. VERY supportive with out making it impossible to get in and out of. Didn't completely blow my budget on them (but definately not as cheap as some of the ebay seats).
But I will say if you're a BIG fellow the A4's might not work for you (I'm 5'10" 180lbs).
PS all Corbeau dealers are priced the same and include shipping.
