Well, the car is in the shop today for what i think is a blown headgasket and hopefully nothing more....its a a Chevy Dealership in which i know a few of the guys there who drag race up in NY...
My question is, is there a better head gasket i should use other then the stock one if in fact i need a new one? Something that is stronger?

Cometic brand gaskets are what almost all the late model forced induction guys run. 5.0's, Ls1's, etc... I'm sure they make a gasket for your application.
yeah, they do, I run them on my LT1. Just make sure that the head gasket didn't go because of detonation. Otherwise the head gasket stops becomming the weak link and you start breaking expensive parts.
I agree, cometics are great gaskets for a blown application. However attention to block prepartation is important. Be sure that block surface is very clean. Cometic even recommends that one uses a sanding block loaded with 180 grit to clean up the top deck and the heads. This ensures a good gasket mating surface. Check out cometics website for more information.

What can i use to monitor for Detonation...i Have the cable from AKM and a laptop.....
So they call me and the guy says......" i had my guy look at it and he said yor problem is the charger you got on it....its shot....its making a loud whining noise"....I said, "no its suppose to be like that...its done that since the day i got it installed"...."well my guy does chargers on trucks and he said he never heard on like that....I said "well he prolly installs roots blowers or something.....which i would imagine are not as loud"... he says he does Whipples"...i said look its not the charger i am getting full boost through it...He, "O"..well we'll take another look at it......."
If I remember right, you are running stock compression. Get the thickest Cometic head gasket made for your application. It will help reduce the compression, and hopefully help to avoid another blown head gasket.
Dealer called me back....They did Compression test, a block test and a leakdown,..they said the car passed with flying colors....
I just don't understand the loss of power i am getting......When i got the car back from Greg i could smoke my tires in long burnouts.....now ,after that Jetstream of white smoke came out my exhaust and Coolant from the overflow tank spilt all over the place a few months ago, i can't even spin them anymore....
I'm at a loss any ideas?....Gonna post this in Tech forums as well i need ideas
Could it be that only at high cylender pressures something becomes seperated and such? Does the coolant tank still boil over when you are on hard throttle?
a puff of white smoke will usually indicate coolant, are you still getting the smoke?
gotta start thinking outside the box, from a clear perspective. Start back with the basics and work up from there.
This is the best...Just picked up my car from the dealer....drove, pushed it SEMI hard.....POOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFF coolant all over the place engine smoking car shuts down ....dead...........
Well, I'd also take the bill back to the dealership and ask for a refund or something.
Guess its time to go with the cometics. If you're still running stock compression I'd also say get the thick ones. Good luck, and I hope you aren't taking it to the dealer to get it fixed.
