Default TB Bypass? This question is different though!

OK, So I am going to be doing some much need maintenance in the next week or so, and the TB bypass is something I might as well do while changing the hoses.

Here is the question, can I use all the hoses from a 96 on my 94 to achieve this, rather than use the bypass fittings?

I ask this, as I believe the 96 upper rad hose is one piece, elimating the TB line, but what about the heater hoses? On my 94, the TB hoses tie into the upper rad and the heater hose, so will 96 heater hoses be one piece also?

If this is all true, did 96s not have coolant going to the TB, or else, where was it tied in at?

Thanks,
Preston

I'm not sure I understand your question. 1996's have two coolant lines (to and from) the T/B. Disconnect the two hoses from the T/B and connect them to each other. Ten minute job if you are slow like me.

Hey Preston, I was thinking of doing the same to mine, but on the heater hose I was just going to replace the "T" fitting with a straight splice, I can't see why this wouldn't work and would clean up the engine bay some by eliminating two hoses altogether.

Here is where I made the connection from the Upper hose to the heater hose:

And this shows how I routed the hose from the "T" fitting on the upper radiator hose. I covered it with stainless.

Yeah, that is my back up plan, I just was not sure what the hoses were like on a 96, so if that heater hose is different in any other way, I will go the splice route.

Worst case is I have a rad hose from a 96 and a spliced heater hose from a 94.

So where do those lines originate from, since we know that one of them does NOT come from the upper radiator hose? Does the other one come from the heater hose?

Update for anyone interested, after many parts stors, and many hose that were wrong, it appears that NAPA has the right hoses, and they will be here tomorrow. 1996 upper rad hose is one piece and identical to the two hoses for 1994s. All the other heater hose have been ordered also, and I will use a coupler to eliminate the tee there. Should be a nice clean installation.
