I went with the Bilstein Extreme shocks from Vette brake Products. They are a little stiff for the street, but great on the track. Just depends on what you are looking for. I pretty much only care how it handles on the track.

I would say Bilstein Z51's a little pricey, but worth it.

Coincidence! I had a '92 'vert, later sold it, and I had brand new Bilsteins I couldn't use anymore, so a fellow CF member stationed in Germany bought 'em! (Forgot his s/n)

I loved the yelllow tube Koni Sports. Also had the "Corvette Challenge" valving on a set of Bilsteins - the rears were way too stiff for street use.

If I have the adjustable suspension on my 91 do I need special shocks? What about just putting on manually adjustable Koni's?

Opinions?

Might want to give QA1 12-way adjustable shocks a look as well. Surprised not to see those listed yet...

I take it you will be doing some "high speed" driving. I would not hesitate to go with the Koni Sport shocks. They are adjustable and a better shock than the Bilstein's.

The adjustable suspension (FE) pretty much IS the special shocks. You can replace them with any other shock...manually adjustable or non-adjustable...and the car will operate like a C4 that doesn't have the FE suspension.
The Koni Sports are a fine shock. You'd have to spend several times more for a shock (Penske? double-adjustable QA-1?) that would be superior.

I have been thinking about buying these. My KYB's are worthless on high-speed curves. Are they so stiff on the street as to make the ride uncomfortable? Should I go back to regular Bilsteins?

They are pretty stiff, when I hit some good bumps in the road, I'll bounce out of the seat and nearly hit my head on the roof, but I don't really care, they are great on the track, makes it worth the rough ride, its not a Caddy ya know.
Just depends on what you are looking for, if its a daily drive that you sometimes take to the track, you might want the adj. QA1s.
My friend has some adj. and they are great on the track too.

Give them a couple of years. Anything above 90 mph on a decent curve and the rear end will float like a boat.

Basically this seems like how the breakdown is:

For aftermarket shocks you can:
-Get your bilsteins revalved at z51 specs
-Get QA1s, a lot of people like these, but thay are more focused as a drag shock yet on still seem to do pretty well on c4's. Note, 12 settings and adjustable.
-Get Koni Adjustable, definitly the best so far for autocrossing and road racing. 3 settings to choose from, but you can't switch the rear around on car. Set it to two and leave it.

Then things can get really crazy and custom and expensive but that seems to be the info. I don't know where Bilsteins' auto-x valving and Vette Brakes Valvings fall into here.

Don't sell the Koni Sport adjustable short; they have a lot more settings than three. As near as I can tell, they are infinitely adjustable.
Even using each 1/4 turn as one setting, the fronts have eleven settings and the rears have ten.
I've set mine on the softest setting in the rear and 1/2 turn from full soft on the front....niiiiice; ride isn't bad and the control is all I was after.
