My dad brother and I recently bought an '84 from a guy up the street, and he told us the guy who owned it before him took off the smog pump, so that needs to be replaced before it can pass smog. We've tried chevy dealers, mid america, year one etc, and noone seems to have what we need to reinstall the pump. We have the pump and gasket, just need a hose or two it seems.
Does anyone know where to get the parts we will need, and where we can get an installation diagram? It's a lot easier to put things back together when you've already seen them assembled.
eBay or junkyard for the parts. I did get a new smog pump from Carquest after the bearings went in mine. You will need the pump and the valve thingy that mounts in the front of the motor between the AC compressor and smog pump (I cant remeber what it is actually called). Hopefully they guy did not hack up the harness. There are two connectors needed. Is the exhaust stuff still hooked up? You will need that as well.
I can take some pics if you want. Just send me a email and we can go from there. azc4vette at ***.net
Replaces the smog pump on my '84. The question is early or late '84 as sometime mid year a change. Suggestion get a Haines, Chilton and or the manual available from Eckler, Mid-America etc. this combo will set you back about $100. but worth it. Also if you don't have any of the documantion contact the Corvette Mesum and available is a replica build sheet and window sticker. In the trunk wells there could still be the pick ticket code decypher available on another thread. Good hunting. Crossfire rules.
looking back under the hood, armed with what you guys have said, I believe all I need are the two electrical connectors, looks like the guy hacked those off. Any idea where to get those?
