I may need a spare opti to use wiht my DELTEQ,if the OPTI was destroyed last night. ANyone want to contribute to the Steve40th foundation for bad luck? 94-97 Optis?

even if the rotor exploded, I would not expect the opti body to have been hurt. Get the cap thingy from DelTeq and all should be ok.
But the sensor may have been destroyed? I need to take it out, but soemthing is broke as it has no idea where to send spark, IMHO, right now. I will code it here in a little bit, to see if anything shows up, but I am going to also look at O2 sensors integrity (maybe one of them disconnected, broke?) I will take some plugs out, one each side, and check all obvious things.
The sensors are protected... there is a metal plate that separates the 2 sides.
If it's bad, you would get codes... I read somewhere that DelTeq was having issues with 94+ systems...
I emailed Pete at DELTEQ. I didnt hear anything on the 94+'s haveing problems.I need a real good set of pics of a Opti taken apart to see what part I am thinking may have been broken, if it is broken at all.

If you have the later, vented style, you need a '95-'97. I too have a used '94 that I have for sale cheap, but would send to you for shipping if it would help. But I don't think it's what you need.

Steve did you convert the timing cover when you had it torn down? The newer Optis have a disc instead of a spline like on my 93.92-94 were the spline shaft unvented 95-96 were disc shafts with the venting. Some people upgrade when they do the cam/timing chain upgrade but it requires changing the timing cover too.If you have a 95 opti you or someone must have done it.

I used the 96 cover and a 95-97 Opti from Superior Chevrolet doing there upgrade. I already had the cover so I ordered everything to convert to the 95 stuff. Do you think my Opti with my 96 cover may be a problem?
Nope no problem all covers are interchangable between all years.I have a 93 opti with a 95 cap converted for venting out in the garage. So I guess you need a Gen II opti for your car which I do not have.
As far as "trouble" the only thing is to make sure the vent hoses are correct if not they will destroy the opti eventually.
Good luck
