I had the flilter and fluid changed in the tranny on my 1996 with only 26000 miles and a couple of days later I got a Code 1886 and the tranny isn't shifting correctly.
I take it back to the tranny shop and they reset the code and said it must have been a satellite radio I had plugged into the lighter outlet.
I unpugged the radio and the car drove fine going home. After sitting for a couple of days in the garage ,As soon as I started it the service soon light came on and it is not shifting right again. I don't have anything electrical plugged in..
Just an update ,I fiqured out that this code is being set when the tranny ,car is cold. I let the car and tranny warm up and then reset the code by removing the negative battery cable and the code clears and the car drives normal and has not come back on while everything is warm, sure is looking like a wire or relay somewhere is opening when it gets cold.
