my lt1 has a slow leak that is tough to find. The oil pan gasket looks to be in good shape but I plan on replacing that. Where are other possible leaks that I can look into? Right now, oil appears to leak on the top, in the reargoing down the engine to the back of the oil pan and over the bellhousing.
Afteri find the source of the problem, what's the best gasket to buy? GM or are they all the same?
my mechanic told me that the rear of the intake would be the problem and to check with others. Did GM come up with a solution? Is it just a common bad seal and are there ways to fix? I don't want this leaking again in 2 years...
Mine has the same leak. I've read a few posts from people saying the felpro gaskets for the heads aren't that great. I've personally never had problems with felpro gaskets on any other car that I've owned. Are their gaskets good for the intake or is there another brand that I should get?
If it a LT1, it very common for the crank seal that gone bad. The seal cost $5 at the dealer, but the opti, water pump and balancer and hub gotta come out to get to the seal. I never have the intake leaking oil on me. But the crank seal that leak oil on me.
