Default Help!PKE question

Ok so the factory transmitter packed it in,the dealer has a tester that told me it was the transmitter & not any of the sensors in my 94 coupe. So I bought a new one off E-Bay,its a new style, better desighn if ya ask me,but I cant seem to get it to work?I tried programing it like it say's in the fact 94 manual, trip twice-fuel-turn ign off-light flash's-bring new transmitter in to range-etc.I get as far as the "flashing light"but its like it wont read or reconize the new transmitter,Am I missing something,I knew it seemed to easy-LOL-Anybody have any suggestion?Yes tried a few new batteries[LOL]

You said it was a new style. I thought there was just the one style. What does it look like. Can you take a pic, or link to the eBay site. Maybe you have the wrong one.

Well it look's mostly the same, but the 2 halves are secured by 2 little screws, instead of the old screwdriver prying way.I wouldnt be surprised if even Gm was selling them this way now.

Default sure the FOB was bad?

Are you sure it was the FOB? Are your interior lights acting up, or the radio/clock not going off when you open the door or the alarm not activating?

If any of these, it could have instead been a problem with your door switches (both of ours were dead when we got our 94 two years ago).

Can you hear the 'ball bearing' moving around within the FOB? If not, it might just be dirty and not dead.

The FOB has a small ball-bearing inside a metal (gold) housing on the circuit board which can get dirty and get stuck. The housing can be gently snapped-off and the ball bearing and area gently cleaned and get the FOB working again (worked for ours). The ball-bearing 'wakes-up' the FOB transmitter, if it is stuck, the FOB does not transmit.

Hope this helps..

well the dealer did say it was no good, but that could also hold true if it was dirty[the old one]so why cant I program a new one?Is there any other way of programing these thing's?Like does a dealer do it diferently?

Default might be programmed, just not working because

What do you mean by the above statement. Is it that the doors do not unlock? Does the Alarm set itself when you walk away? Does the hatch button work?

The PKE system can be turned-off, might it have been either accidently or due to a battery disconnect?

If I remember correctly, the flashing you mentioned means that the FOB is either now programmed or already programmed. So the implication is that you are performing the programming correctly.

Also, once you start the programming, all FOB's have to be reprogrammed, so if you have a 2nd one, keep that in mind.

So, what about the door lights/radio, are they 'acting up' per my previous question?

Hope this helps...

I just did the exact same thing, yesteday. When I brought the transmitter in range, the PKE light continued to flash on the dash, but when I pushed the button to pop the hatch it worked. So, then the passive entry part was still not working. I held down the door lock button for something like 20 seconds until the locks clicked twice and now everything works great! (BTW, That is how you arm and disarm the PKE)

I'm no expert on the PKE but I hope this helps.

Oh MY!!!Just tried it again for the 10tth time!!This time I had the "door" button pressed for like 2 second's & the light stayed on!!Transmitter opened doors,& hatch!!Then I programmed it for the PKE setting,& it work's better than ever!!!!Ok so im guessing you need to press the "door" button when u bring the transmitter into range.Iether that or you may have to try it like 50 times!!!Thank's for all the great help people,& maybe somebody else can learn from this-Richy.
