Default Single Mass Flywheel Issue

I just finished installation of a Valeo/Fidanza single mass flywheel combo. I am getting a lot of noise from the transmission when I am in neutral and the clutch is engaged. I expected a rattle, but this is extreme(vibration, grinding, seems to load the engine too). The flywheel was match balanced and I don't really have vibration issues when driven. I was to late to read some of the post that recommended to not install this combo on a daily driver, but I am wondering if this is normal or is there a possible tranny issue? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

mine was even match balanced to the rotating assy when i had it installed. this isn't really necessary for L98 apps (per carolina clutch, the source), but i had it done since the whole engine was out anyway, last year.

made no difference. in all likelihood all is fine with your setup, except the flywheel. i assume you do have a matching sprung hub clutch disc.

when you disengage the clutch, about 80% of the racket will disappear.......not necessarily practical at every stoplight for the rest of its natural life.

good luck with your setup. it WILL rev faster.

You know Brett, if you'd tell us a little more about your Vette (in your sig) we might be able to help you out a little more. For instance, what kind of mods are done to your engine, ie horsepower? If it is stock or mostly stock, then a better plan would have been a dual mass flywheel and a stock clutch. If you are going with more than say 400 hp and you want to run slicks, then maybe a custom clutch is in order. The single mass flywheels will rattle the tranny like a box of rocks, especially one with more miles on it. Oh the problems of big horsepower.
