My friend just got a 94 vette as her first vette and I have some questions since I get to repair it.
The abs light in dash is on and the seller said it was from rear center brake light out is tripping the abs in ecm that it has a brake problem. Is this BS or not. Also what is easiest way to replace bulb?
Also the ASR service light is on and wonder what can cause it to come on and are there some things to check to correct it.
I didn't notice this light on when I test drove it but she says it has always been on when she drove it.
This vette has 6spd and lt1 and overall is very nice condition and she got it for 9 grand.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since you will be the Mr.Goodwrench on that Vette insist that she pick up a copy of the GM Shop Manual by HELM for it. It has all the info you will need for current trouble shooting and future R&R projects.
I doubt that the hi brake light has to do with the ABS but you can access the bulbs by removing the two screws that are accessable just under the hatch by the hinges. Then you can lift the light assy and remove the top for access to the four bulbs.
Doubt very seriously that a brake light would cause the ABS light to come on. They are not connected.
I have had ABS light on other cars and I always start by cleaning the sensors. Next, purge the brake fluid w/ new. Moisture can cause the ABS pump to not work properly.
You will need to read the codes to be sure, but the usual cause of the ASR light is a bad wheel speed sensor. This is a PITA, because the speed sensor is part of the wheel hub and has to be replaced as a unit. If this is the root of your problem, there have been a few posts on how to replace the vette hub with a firebird hub which is about half the cost.
Both problems may be related to the wheel sensor but as mentioned above get the Factory service manual it is the best $100 you can invest for your car.
Go to the C4 Parts/Wanted section of this forum and post a WTB (want to buy) for the Shop Manuals for the year you want. Someone may have a set laying around they want to get rid of. I just bought a set for my 95 vette off of there
Pulled codes and got a code only on #9 which was H29. What does this code relate to? Why doesn't the ASR show a code or could it be tied to the H29 code?
My service manual for my 89 states the wheel sensors can be replaced so I wonder can the 94 sensors be replaced also?
Does anyone know of a thread for checking ABS system on a 94 Vette? I saw thread for 87 to 91.
I have not heard the ABS activating or any pedal sensation but have not had it on wet roads either.
I did pull ecm fuse to reset ecm but still have the same asr and abs lights on.

Regarding changing the 3rd brake light, If it is a coupe like ours, I thought I replaced our bulb by removing the rear license plate and reaching-up behind it and gently removing the nuts holding it to the bumper.
Regarding the wheel sensors, I thought I had read somewhere that just cleaning the surface area of the sensor (where it sticks out of the hub) can fix the problem.
Either the dirt/corrosion/metal filings alter its magnetic pick-up or alter its ground, not sure which, but it made sense to me when I read it somewhere awhile ago (didn't have the problem, but just 'filed' it away in my memory for the future)...
I did replace the bulb by removing license plate and no the ABS light didn't go off as I suspected it wouldn't.
I also read under texas inspection requirements that an ABS light on is not grounds for failing inspection.
I still need find what codes pertain to.
