my acrilic top just cracked and i dont have 1100 dollars to go buy a new one so does anyone know of a filler to seal up the crack so rain and stuff doesnt get in or know of one i can buy for cheap (duck tape is what is currently holding things together but that wont last)
I fixed mine with a product called Weld On. I think it was #3.It is made for lexan and makes it stronger than it originally was.I had the rear corner broken off I used a long clamp and a hypo needle to apply it.Make sure it is lined up correctly before doing it cause it sets quick.Do a search online for it I got mine from a place called Sanitary.Great stuff
I had mine covered in black canves and you can't tell anything is wrong unless you push down on the center.
It kinda looks like a convertable half top.
On the edges they made it like the edging on a convertable top.
Mine cracked too - many years ago. You can drill out a hole where the crack appears to end. This should keep it from expanding any further. I just put clear silcone caulk in mine. I found a used painted fiberglass top and had it painted - that is my recommendation - get rid of the glass top - breaks, squeeks, etc. Astro tops also makes replacements for like $400 but I've seen some unhappy comments on the forum.
Before you put in a claim consider your deductable and talk to your agent and find out exactly what will happen to your premium.
Two years ago my wife hit the side of the garage with her Lincoln LS and tore off the side mirror. The total cost to repair was $1500.00. After my $500 deductable the insurence company paid the balance. When my policy came up for renewal I was told that the premium had increased $700 per year for the next 3 years.
Maybe that's just insurence in NJ but it can't hurt to ask.
I will repeat the best way to glue it is with Weld On.Only thing better is replace it.This is assuming the crack can be pulled togther as it is not a filler. It is more like super glue.
