Default TB Airfoil pics please

Hi all;

I have had a 'power now' TB airfoil in my '85 for ages and like it. Trouble is, since replacing the concertina type original intake hose (from MAF to TB) with a smooth bore one; it can no longer reliably sit in place due to not having the indents of the old hose there to hold it. I have discovered a while back that it had actually turned itself almost sideways, INHIBITTING airflow rather than helping!

SO; my dilema is that I'm one of those guys that 'hate having less than I've had'; so I still want an airfoil (And PLEASE dont start the great debate again about them being a waste of money etc!) But I'm left with with either selling this one and buying the more common type that attaches to the throttle body with one of those bullet shaped 'things' & a screw, OR (& here we FINALLY get to what I'm after!); MODIFYING MINE somehow to STAY PUT;

Could anyone kindly send me a close up, more detailed photo of what the part looks like? And I guess not having used this type before; HOW it attaches to the TB? Is the fitting basically like 'a hook' that grabs the TB and clamps it in place?

Many, many thanks...

*UPDATE*: I now have another answer to my own question so will post link here http://content.madirect.com/pdf/609091.pdf for future similar questions...

mines the one that has one bolt to the TB - I've emailed you a pic -

Mine was on the vette when i got it, so I don't know if you have to tap a thread, drill a hole or even if the bolt comes with the airfoil - peprhaps someone else can let you know

Thanks punk...I mean S'nut (Forgot where I WAS 4 a sec!) hehehe

As per MY email; (For info of others too):

'TA; I've only ever seen the sold with screw and 'thingy' to screw into. Since I recently spent quality time with my TB (Well, quantity time anyway) I'm fairly sure theres no screw thread...BUT, having said that - I DO have a selection of good quality taps that could MAKE a thread...hmmmmmm'

Great minds think alike huh?

The POS one I have uses a threaded block that drops between the bores of the TB after you take the top cover off,

A bolt then goes through the air foil horizontally and is threaded into the block after you get it lined up.

Check out eBay item # 8006950229 for a pic

AH; I SEE!!! YES; THAT makes perfect sense! NOW I get the picture; well then, I guess I COULD make an attachment using that principal - I think I have some old threaded blocks from an old motorbike brake cable...Hmmmm...YES: My head is refilling with ideas now - I may even be able to keep my beloved foil.

Thanks mate!

I bought a used 52mm one and it came with the airfoil. I found that bottom stuck out due to the bolt being only on the top. I drilled and tapped 2 holes for allen set screws. You could possibly do the top and bottom in this fashion to secure it.

mmmm...not sure; had a look at mine today and I'd have to drill a hole in the leading edge of the wing...sorry; foil to do that. Will try and post a pic tomorrow; that may open up the discussion more.

Yes indeed, youll gain more power with that than you ever will adding an air foil while your plenum is in that condition. Turbulence will be worse after those jaggies than it would be going into a stock TB.

Allow me to retort!!!
