Default TPI and LT1 throttle body differances?

I read somewhere that the HSR uses a LT1 style throttle body. Does a TPI TB fit? What is the differance?

I don't think there are any big differences between the two. Lingenfelter lumps them together:

http://www.lingenfelter.com/store/lt152mmtb.html

I know when I got my 52mm for my '87 from TPIS I went and picked it up at their shop and the gaskets were different. They said "It doesn't matter."

I know if you look at the mount gaskets the early l98, l98 and lt1 are different, but they all bolt up the same.

TPI and LT1 throttle bodies are very different, starting with the throttle cable hook up, TV cable hook up, vacuum ports & Coolant hose ports.

Ok, så both fit the intake, but cable hook up and coolant hose ports are different. That does not matter for me.

As far as just mounting on the plenum...yes an LT1 will fit on a TPI plenum.

Is there something about your mods to the Holley
Stealth Ram that make these points not matter?

Without knowing otherwise, I would choose the L98
TB for my '89 just to simplify hookups. However,
you say above they do not matter and I recall reading
in your other thread that at one point you anticipate
having to change the throttle cable ends.

I have an 84 Cross-Fire so the throttle cable is probably different from both TPI and LT1. I have removed the cruise control. I have a 4L80E so the TV cable is also gone. I am not going to use coolant to heat the throttle body. I don't know if I am going to hook up the IAC or not. I have run without it the last summer without having any problems with idle.

What I NEED is a throttle body with TPS sensor and throttle cable. The rest does not matter very much for me as long as it fits the plenum.

I have seen pictuers where the IAC housing is bolted to the bottom of the plenum. Is that LT1, TPI or both? I think at least the LT1 has a removable IAC housing.

The IAC housing is "bolted" on the bottom of both throttle bodies. The differences are that the LT1's IAC is held in place by 2 screws and the TPI's actually screws into the housing and the connectors are different between the 2. Also the TPS is different between the 2, as are their connectors. You can splice the LT1's connectors to an L98 harness and the IAC & TPS will work with a TPI ECM.

If it will help you, PM me with a list of
photos you'd like of a stock functioning
'89 L98 intake.

I will take and host as many of these
pics as I can tomorrow in the daylight
with any leftovers to follow in the near
future.

Thanks, but you don't have to do that. A friend of mine has a TPI so I can look at that.

I found these of the LT1
