Default Using the oil dye

I got a 1 ounce little bottle, but no directions. Do I pour the whole thing in and wipe clean underneath and drive, or what? Anyone use this before?

Some dye 's need an Ultraviolet light and yellow glasses to be seen. Clean as best you can, drive for a couple minutes and then look for the dye.

I have a UV leak detector kit witch emmits a lime green color when using the UV light and yellow glasses. However you can still make out the greenish color to the naked eye....somewhat

You have to clean the engine block good before you can see the dye properly. If your block is pretty clean - buy some brake cleaner and clean up anywhere that you think is leaking - especially around the valve covers. I would try to see if the leak will occur by letting it run parked for 10 to 15 minutes. Driving it can make the oil go all over the place. You will need the yellow glasses and UV light to see it properly.

Thanks boys. I don't know why I had the impression I had to use a black light when it is UV. Good advice 85vet, as my leak occurs while at idle with engine running, so no need to spray it all over. I think I unhooked the fuel pump-oil pressure switch when taking off the manifold and didn't hook it back up. The leak is on the oil filter and driver's side header only, and is making smoke signals after spirited driving I really don't think it is the back of the manifold as I used gobs of the black permatex on there, but ya never know.
