that is the most ignorant arguement I have ever heard.

If someone said, "Saddam killed all of his wives," does it make it ok to do the same thing?

Just ****ing stupid.

Heres my take on it, I drive my hotrod less than 3-4k yearly. Its for enjoyment only.. I have a seperate vehicle for day-to-day driving...Reason? well... 1 for comfort and 2. because i'm both enviromentally and economically aware of our situation as a nation. Its not my pocket that hurts when I waste gas but its the pocket of the entire nation. If I where to drive that car to work everyday I would be really concerned with fuel mileage, emmissions, tire pressure, tire wears, etc. but I do not, so I am not.
even more lame justification for polluting.

What you don't know is the exact VOC you ARE spitting out. Modern emissions will put out in 100000 miles what only took 10k miles - or less - in pre emissions vehicles.

poor. very poor.

And whilst huffing on the bike, do you want to be sucking in smog?? I don't think so.

actually, I don't have problems with those cars... they are not regulated, so how can I get bent?

All I am asking is for us, as hotrodders and gear heads to show a little restraint. Respect the laws that have been established... and they were created for one reason - the automakers and the owners of cars could not be responsible enough to do it themselves.

if we are not careful, we will all get screwed, because we cannot be honest about it and be responsible.

Oh, and if the ozone layer falls on my head, it will take your selfish *** out with it.

I am very blunt about this subject. I don't want stupidity from others to screw it up for all of us.

Some random facts:

L98 exhaust sucks. The best fix, dual bullet cats, x-pipe and duals out back. It will sound awesome and sniff as clean as a whistle. If you can get an entire LT1 stock system, that would rock, too. Expect a 20~30hp gain. Add 20 more if you add LTs.

The airpump systems only help at startup. After the first mile, the cats are lit. I hate the air pump on the L98. It draws power and only burns valves.

This is also why factory coolant settings are the best bet. You want that engine in the 190s to make sure the engine is sufficently warmed and the metals are equalized.

PCV systems are truely important, versus, sending raw emissions into the air.

LT1 exhaust is very good right from the factory, but bullet cats would help free up another 10hp or so and make it sound better. Again, LTs would add another 20hp or so.

I will not stop discussing this as an option. It seems that there are a lot of people stuck in 1978... thinking that cats are the enemy, when in reality, they are our ally. they make the air clean at a minimal cost. Just loose all the big brother rantings and realize that some laws are really for our betterment.

I know the laws are not perfect nor are they fair, tough ****. But these are real easy to deal with...

I don't care if you drive only 3000 miles a year... the car is tagged for the street, it has to be clean. I am NOT saying it has to be factory, JUST CLEAN.

One day, the feds will mandate CARB like testing in all states... and when that happens, so sorry.

You know Bogus I think your little argument with people is pretty bogus. I don't agree with the ease of getting on welfare but I dont pick arguments with everyone who draws it.

I dont have VET testing here so I will continue to run without emissions equipment and pollute all your air. Why dont you just invest in an oxygen mask when you go outside. That would be great. If have the same attitude in person as you do on here, that mask would keep you from speaking your one track mind so much. In that case you might permanently attach it to your face.

U need to take the debate somewhere else and let the forum be a nice joining place for all of us to enjoy. Nobody wants to be harassed everytime they bring this subject up.

And perhaps your one track mind could benefit from the same myopic muzzleing you want to do to me.

hypocrite.

in your own words you are willing to pollute our air. shame on you.

I will not stand idly by and ignore comments and suggestions recommending the disabling of the cats. It's all part of an integrated system.

It will put out a lot less pollutants than your non cat Vette will and for what 5hp maybe!!
But cats are not that restrictive, if you feel you the need to relieve some back pressure, why don't you gut out your muffler?

I won't get over it. And it's your RESPONSIBILITY to put cats back on your car... or don't you understand responsibility?

You are defending the indefenceable. What part of "illegal" don't you understand?

Heres bogus's cars

Chevrolet Corvette
8 cyl, 5.7 L, Auto(4), (FFS) (MPFI), Premium 17 25
$2213
9.5 NA

Chevrolet Corvette
8 cyl, 5.7 L, Man(6), (FFS) (MPFI), Premium 17 25
$2213
9.5 NA

and heres one of my daily drivers
Honda Prelude
4 cyl, 2.2 L, Man(5), (FFS), Regular 24 30
$1577
7.3 NA

and another

Chevrolet Camaro
8 cyl, 5.7 L, Man(6), Premium 18 27

So what is bogus doing to help the enviroment? My catless firebird only sees pleasure driving.. (less than 4k last year) I drive a honda or 6 cylinder jeep, or 00 Z28 to work. All of them emmit fewer TONS/yr of greenhouse emmissions than bogus corvette.

That was my point bogus.. quit taking it so damn personal. If your truely worried about the enviroment make sure your driving a fuel friendly vehicle.. or taking public transportation... not ragging a few enthusist about some pleasure vehicles they own

Everytime I see a post degrade to this... I just have to laugh a bit.

Anyone watch that episode of South Park : Butt-out? For some reason this thread reminded me of it and their portrayol of Rob Reiner. lol

Rob Reiner: Mm. [urp] Uh, we're just leveling out the playing field. [dabs his forehead] The tobacco companies lie to you about the dangers of smoking. If we're gonna take them down, we've gotta lie right back! [begins to sniff around after detecting cigarette smoke, then focuses in on the source. The boys look as well. The source is a man wearing a Buds Light Beer har, enjoying a drink and a smoke at the bar] Oh my God! [coughs loudly, but fails to get the man's attention. He rises from the booth and walks up to the smoker] Excuse me!
BUDS Man: Yes?
Rob Reiner: Would you mind putting that death stick out?!
BUDS Man: But, uh, this is a bar.
Rob Reiner: Isn't smoking illegal in bars here?
Bartender: Not in Colorado
Rob Reiner: Oh my God! What kind of backward hick state is this?!
BUDS Man: Look man, I work fourteen hours a day at the saw mill. I just got off work and I need to relax.
Rob Reiner: Well when I relax I just go to my vacation house in Hawaii!
BUDS Man: [getting irritated] I ain't got a vacation house in Hawaii!
Rob Reiner: Yuh your vacation house in Mexico, then, whatever it is! Look, you are putting my life and these boys' lives in danger by smoking that in here! And I'm not gonna tolerate it! I will end smoking in bars in Colorado! There will be no more smoking here!

Jesus guys, calm down.

Bogus, my comment was not directed at you. I just wanted to be left out of the fray. I geuss I was trying to do that by noting the road bike thing. I value your tech knowledge and input. Can't we all just get along?

But this is not legal. By federal standards you cannot relocate the converter.

On a lighter note, for all of you who are so concerned about pollution and energy useage, check your home. I read a report that the average house now creates more pollution then the average car. This is due to power plants etc. that support your house.
So with this in mind contact me for a new high efficiency HVAC system.

I didn't know you where in HVAC...

I have alot of ideas on how to improve effeciencies of heat pumps and water heaters with geothermic heating/cooling and solar heating. I've thought to myself why haven't they done some of these things and i'm sure there are good reasons.. prehaps me and you can discuss them off this board.

I am not taking this personally... I find it sad that there are people who seem to think OUR environment is disposable...

It's all about education... and people need to know.

It is one thing I am passionate about.
