I've just had a catastrophy, I purchased my diacom plus setup from a CF member early this year and was just going through the instructions for the first time. It says to make a 'working copy' of the disk.
Somehow, I've managed to damage the disk even though the write protection was on. I just keep on getting the message Disk is not formatted- do you want to format disk?, it appears that all the files have been wiped. I haven't a clue what has gone wrong here, except maybe a malfunction of my floppy drive, because the drive is working and reading other disks fine.
It looks like I need some new software.
Does anyone have a copy of the diacom plus version 2.85 software they could e-mail me? I am obviously in dire straights with this.
Thanks in advance
Dave
Morley,
I received your e-mail, however, hotmail for some reason blocked the attachment. It appears hotmail does not allow certain types of file attachment.
Would it be possible to fire it to my other address?

Sorry for the inconvenience
Sam Lam, I appreciate your help, If I can't get sorted for some reason with Morleys kind offer, I would appreciate you trying also.
It seems I'm not having a lot of luck with computors at the moment doesn't it.
Thanks Guys its good to know help is out there as usual on the CF.
Dave and Morley: I have embarrassed myself by relying on my memory and not using my eyes :o . I went to the garage and looked at my Diacom and it is version 2.84....and not the 2.87 as stated earlier. I am having trouble getting the 2.84 to run one of the two options available for my 89.
Morley, would you mind sending a copy of the 2.85 to me and let me see if this will help me solve my problem? My email is: samlam@charter.net.
Morley,
Message received, Thankyou!
Although I'm not 100% sure yet what to do with it with regard to saving it to a disk, as when I tried, the file size is greater than a floppy will handle.
If anyone knows, please chip in and excuse my obvious ignorance with this. I need to do some more asking on this subject.
Thanks again Morley.
Sam Lam, I hope you can get sorted too.
Thanks Morley,
I have managed to follow your instructions. I'm not used to performing tasks like that, however I think I have it sorted now. It will be a while or so before I will be able to use it, but at least I am back to where I was before I had my mishap. I think a new floppy drive is on the shopping list. I can't thank you enough
Dave
Morley: My #2 son has set me up with a boot disk combined with the Diacom software. I just shut down Windows and restart with the special disk in the floppy drive. My problem lies in another area.
I can run version 2.84 on my 89 only in the "diagnostic" mode. I cannot get it to run in ALDL mode. Is this just my lack of understanding how to do it or is it not possible to use the ALDL mode on my 89? I am supposed to meet with gbody5 within the next few weeks (he is in St. Louis too) and he will attempt to train me.....if that is possible
Any words of wisdom from you on the ALDL mode issue would be appreciated!
SAM
Others have had the same complaint with just getting diagnostic mode. I personally don't use Diacom, the only reason I have it was to see if I could build a cable to work with it.
You could try putting a 10k ohm resistor across pins A & B of the car's ALDL, I don't think the Diacom cable has it, they refer to a "special" adaptor to read MAF TPI's...I'm betting that "special" adaptor is just a 10k ohm resistor across those pins. The 165 ECM will not communicate without the resistor.
