Installing Poly Bushings

I've bought new poly bushings for my 85 rear sway bar. Removed old rubber ones but when forcing new poly bushings into sleave using a vice they are about 1/4 inch longer than the old ones. Has anyone else had the same problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

I did that job earlier this year and had no such problem using the black ES bushings.

Will the links still bolt up the the chassis and to the sway bar??

I had the same proble with my 86 when I used new GM parts. I used a C-clamp and socket to press the new bushings in the sway bar while on car. Also used a lot of silicon spray.
